Meade LX200 8"

The Meade LX200 is one of the most storied telescopes in amateur astronomy — an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain on a dual-fork equatorial arm mount with a long history of serious visual and research use. The LX200 uses a proper equatorial fork design, giving it better tracking for long-exposure photography than alt-az systems. The AutoStar II controller has an extensive database and GPS option. Though Celestron's EdgeHD and NexStar Evolution have become more popular, the LX200 retains a loyal following for its robust mechanics and long track record.
