What you'll see
The defining quality of this telescope is its clean, high-contrast views. The ED glass doublet at f/9 suppresses chromatic aberration well, so bright objects like the Moon and planets show sharp edges without the purple fringing common in achromatic refractors. At 100mm aperture, there is enough light grasp to reveal genuine detail rather than just shapes.
On the Moon, expect razor-sharp crater rims, Hadley Rille, and complex shadow detail along the terminator at 150–200×. Saturn shows the Cassini Division in steady seeing and subtle banding on the disc. Jupiter reveals at least two equatorial belts, festoons, and the Great Red Spot when conditions allow. Mars at opposition shows the polar ice cap and large-scale albedo features like Syrtis Major, though 100mm is on the smaller side for Mars detail. Double stars are a genuine strength — Albireo, Epsilon Lyrae, and tight pairs down near the Dawes limit of 1.2 arcseconds reward the clean optics and long focal ratio.
For deep-sky objects, the 900mm focal length frames the Orion Nebula's core and trapezium nicely, though you lose the full extent of the wings. Open clusters like the Double Cluster fit the field at low power. Andromeda's bright core is visible but the halo spills well beyond the eyepiece field. Globular clusters like M13 appear granular but won't resolve individual stars the way a larger aperture would. If you mount it on a tracking equatorial and attach a camera, the f/9 focal ratio demands longer exposures than a dedicated astrograph, but the well-corrected field rewards patience with tight, round stars.
