Sky-Watcher Explorer 130PDS OTA
The 130PDS is the imaging-optimised version of the popular Explorer 130 — PDS stands for Planetary-Deep Sky, and the key difference from the standard 130P is the dual-speed 10:1 Crayford focuser. Precise, backlash-free focusing is essential for astrophotography, and the 130PDS delivers it. Sold as an OTA only, it is typically paired with an EQM-35 Pro or HEQ5 Pro mount for imaging work. At 130mm f/5 it is a popular choice for first-light widefield imaging — bright nebulae, the Milky Way core, and large galaxies. The shorter focal length (compared to, say, an 8-inch SCT) also means more forgiving guiding requirements.
