A 102mm f/8 triplet APO refractor built to Takahashi's exacting standards — the benchmark scope for serious visual planetary observation in a portable format. Colour correction is essentially perfect, contrast is exceptional, and the mechanical quality means the focuser will feel the same in 20 years as it does today. Among planetary observers, a 4-inch Takahashi APO frequently produces views described as matching or exceeding much larger instruments of lesser optical quality.
