What you'll see

The Evostar 72ED's defining strength is its wide, flat, colour-corrected field at f/5.8 — this is an imaging-first telescope. With a camera sensor and star tracker, it frames huge swathes of sky: the full extent of the Orion Nebula with surrounding running man nebulosity, the complete Andromeda Galaxy including its companion M110, or sweeping Milky Way mosaics through Cygnus and Sagittarius. Even short stacked exposures of 30–60 seconds on a star tracker will pull colour and structure from emission nebulae. On an APS-C sensor the field of view is roughly 3.3° × 2.2°, making it a natural fit for large nebulae like the North America Nebula or the Veil complex.

Visually, 72mm of aperture delivers pleasing views of the Moon — craters, maria, and the terminator show good contrast with minimal chromatic aberration thanks to the ED glass. Saturn's rings are visible, and Jupiter shows its disc and main equatorial belts, but detail is limited and high magnification runs out of resolution quickly. Open clusters like the Pleiades, the Double Cluster, and M35 are where this scope shines visually, with the short focal length keeping them framed in context.

Don't expect to resolve globular clusters or pick up faint galaxy detail — 72mm simply doesn't gather enough light for those targets, and the short focal length means planetary discs remain small. This is a wide-field instrument through and through, and it excels when used that way.
